It's The Latest Trend For Spring – Fantastic Silk and Cotton Pendant Scarves To Brighten Your Spring Outfits

We are lovers of all types of scarves at Fashion Tips, but the latest new craze to hit us has been the pendant scarf. Is it jewellery – or is it a scarf? The answer is - it’s both. You can wear your pendant scarf in many different ways and it looks fantastic. Could this latest trend be linked to Amrita Hans, pictured here? Amrita is an up and coming Indian jewellery designer specialising in contemporary semi-precious jewellery and accessories. All of Amrita’s designs are handmade and exclusive, but it seems her designs have influenced the high street, as we have seen many rainbow coloured pendant scarves being stocked in stores and fashion boutiques in the last few weeks.

How To Wear A Pendant Scarf

There are many ways to wear a pendant scarf that look amazing and we have a few suggestions:

  1. If your scarf has either a central pendant or pendants on each end of the scarf, wear it simply by placing the centre of your scarf at the front of your neck and wrap both ends across at the back leaving them loose and hanging down at the front.
  2. If you are wearing your scarf with a coat of jacket, again place the centre of the scarf to the front of your neck, then wrap the scarf ends twice around your neck, knotting the scarf at the side of your neck leaving two short ends – this works best with a central pendant.
  3. If you scarf has pendants and decorations at the ends only, wrap the scarf twice around your neck, twisting it as you go, and then tie the ends to leave the two decorations displayed at the front.

Pendant Scarves are Colourful

Pendant scarves come in lots of different designs and colours, a few of our favourites are displayed below, we love the combinations of colours and designs, including butterflies and flowers, and lovely sparkling gems!

Tips For Wearing Lace - Hayden Panettiere Wears A Caroline Seikaly Lace Dress

Hayden Panettiere wearing Caroline Seikaly

There is quite a thin line between looking classic and amazing or slightly cheap and tawdry when you decide to wear a lace mini dress, but Hayden Panettiere has pulled it off perfectly with this little Caroline Seikaly number. The colour, length and quality of the actual lace material can make all the difference. Obviously, the dress Hayden is wearing is beyond many of our budgets as it's by an amazing designer who has worked with Karl Lagerfield and Christian Lacroix. But you can get the same amazing effect by buying carefully from the high street or on-line, and wearing the dress with the right accessories and shoes. Here are a few guidelines as to what you should be looking for and how to wear it.

  • Don't choose a dress which is too short. Obviously, your age (and how much you love your legs!) should influence you as well here, but even if you are not a day over 21, a lace dress which shows your knickers will not look classy. Try on the dress in the store, and check it out from behind to get the effect.
  • Most dresses will be made to show the appropriate amount of flesh peeping through, but unless you have a supermodel waistline you may feel more comfortable wearing a slip or all-in-one beneath the dress to minimise any curves or bumps.
  • Flat shoes are not really flattering with this style of dress, but both strappy, high-heeled sandals or knee boots look fantastic.
  • If you feel that your dress is a tiny bit on the short side, wear it with tights, even opaque ones, as this will make your dress seem longer than if you wear it with bare legs.
  • If you are going with bare legs, make sure they are in tip-top condition, and moisturised or finished off with a tinted leg cream to make them look air-brush perfect.
  • Lastly, don't overdo the jewellery and accessories, keep them classic rather than big and bold, as this will emphasise the classiness of the dress rather than cheapening the look.

For Summer and Autumn Make Cargo Pants A Necessary Item In Your Wardrobe Too

Jennifer Aniston in cargo pants and espadrille wedge sandals

Cargo pants were originally around in the 1990s, and were designed for rough and tough outdoor activities. Now they are here as a cool and necessary fashion item. They can be seen adorning the pins of many celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Jessica Biel, but the girl who probably has the most pairs, and who has been wearing them for well over a decade, is Jennifer Aniston. She is rumoured to have a pair of red Maharishi cargo pants that she has had since the 90's - almost vintage!

The Baggy Kind Of Cargo Pants

Well, these are the kind that we see Jennifer wearing here, looking pretty cool, rolled up with espadrille sandals and a white vest top - this outfit would be perfect for pottering around tiny sun drenched streets whilst shopping or sight-seeing on holiday.

Casual cargo pants are ideal to be worn with fitted t-shirts, a boyfriend shirt tied at the front, or if the sun is out on holiday or at a festival, with a bikini or cropped top.

They are the perfect casual pants and the casual look should be finished off with a leather belt and flip-flops or espadrille sandals. They are so versatile, and also great for travelling in, as even when creased, they still look cool and stylish.

The Skinny Kind of Cargo Pants - The Latest Trend

Every fashion store, both on the high street and on-line, has racks of skinny cargo pants to choose from. The difference with the fitted cargo pant is that you can dress them up, rather than keeping it casual with the loose fitting styles. Try the following looks with a pair of fitted, skinny cargo pants:

  • For a lunch out with friends, roll up the hem of your pants to just above your ankle, and team up with a pretty and feminine blouse, a pretty necklace or beads and platform sandals. The combination of tough, edgy pants with feminine accessories is a look to die for.
  • With a pair of figure hugging cargo pants, wear them on a night out. Combine them with a glam strappy top, pumps with towering heels, sparkling jewellery and clutch bag.
  • Going out with friends shopping, you may want a little more comfort. Wear your fitted cargos with flat sandals, a plain white fitted t-shirt, a light-weight cardigan over your shoulders, a pretty scarf and a canvas bag.

Cargo pants are definitely a must have for this season, and we think they will also be around for a while to come - you never know, you might end up with a favourite pair that you will want to keep as long as Jennifer has been rumoured to have kept hers

Just about every fashion magazine and blog has covered the Golden Globe Awards and the after show parties this year, but many seem to have failed to notice how the Hollywood red carpet was awash with floor length asymmetrical and one shoulder dresses.  All the Hollywood stars and starlets making this style work for them are too numerous to mention here, but to name a few were Drew Barrymore in an architectural peach crystal scatter dress by Atelier Versace, Kate Winslet (pictured here) in a navy Yves Saint Laurent gown, with Tiffany & Co jewels and Jennifer Aniston in a black, plunging Valentino gown. All of them demonstrated that the asymmetrical or one shoulder dress works for all types of figures and styles. Why not try it out for yourself, here are a few simple tips for wearing asymmetrical or one shoulder tops and dresses.

  • Look for classical and even rather plain styles when wearing an asymmetric or one shoulder style dress. Kate is wearing a well fitted navy Yves Saint Laurent gown which she accessorised with Tiffany & Co jewels. YSL gowns may require rather too deep pockets for many of us, but similar gowns can be found for a fraction of the price, and with the right hair-do, makeup and sparkling accessories, can still look stunning.
  • Look for one-shoulder dresses in black or navy or if you are brave enough to make more of a statement go for a dark red or cream dress and match it up with a pair of classic killer heel pumps and clutch bag.
  • If you choose a simply styled, black asymmetrical dress it can be dressed up with sparkly, high heels, evening bag and jewels, or dressed down with a wide belt, black leggings, flat pumps and big slouch bag for a casual look.
  • An asymmetrical mini dress can be worn with patterned tights and Mary-Janes for an office-girl look and then changed for the evening to be worn over skinny jeans and long knee boots for a night out.
  • Remember the gorgeous SATC Carrie dress in cream with the beautiful corsage? Try this out yourself with a one-shoulder dress, by attaching a pretty corsage in colours matching your dress, or contrasting colours which can be matched with shoes and bag.
  • There are lots of different ways to wear asymmetrical styles, look for off centre necklines, pointed sleeves, hemlines and off-the shoulder styles.
  • If you are wearing an asymmetrical evening dress keep your jewellery simple. A large central pendant does not look correct with a one-shoulder or asymmetrical neckline. Instead, centre your jewellery around earrings and bracelets and leave shoulders and neckline bare.
