Makeup Tips To Create The Kristen Stewart Look In New Moon

Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan

I first heard of Kristen Stewart when she played Tracy, a teenage, guitar playing daughter of travelling folk in the film "Into the Wild". Since then she has risen to fame playing Bella Swan, the heroine of the Twilight Saga, which follows the story of a teenage girl (Bella) moving to a new town, Forks, Washington, where she meets Edward Cullen, a boy who is a little bit different, and who sees Bella as the soul mate he has been waiting for. Anyway, lots more of this story can be found in Stephanie Meyer's books and, as fascinating as this story is, we are here to look at how to re-create the natural, beautiful looks of Bella in the story.

Bella is described in the novels as pale and beautiful, with large, chocolate brown eyes, and a natural beauty, which is the look we are going to achieve here.

  • Step 1: Using a light coloured foundation (stay away from golden or tanned shades), apply a thin even base of a matte finish foundation.
  • Step 2: Using a matching concealer, lightly apply to disguise dark circles under the eyes and any other noticeable imperfections.
  • Step 3: Using a loose powder and large powder brush, sweep a translucent powder over the forehead and mainly over the t-zone to keep away any unwanted shine.
  • Step 4: Using a peachy or earthy toned blusher, brush a powder blusher from the apples of your cheeks outwards along your cheekbones, keeping the look natural.
  • Step 5: Unless you already have dark, defined eyebrows, use a dark brown eyebrow pencil to define the shape of your brows, starting at the inner corner and working outwards. Don't use solid lines, but draw in hairs over your natural brow shape, and then blend with an eyebrow brush.
  • Step 6: Using matte eyeshadows, apply a natural coloured shadow all over your upper eyelid area and blend out towards the brow bone. Then using a slightly deeper colour, such as a light brown or matte grey, work this along the eyelid crease and out towards the outer corner of your eyelid blending it to the middle of your lid above your iris.
  • Step 7: Using either a brown or grey eye pencil draw a line along your upper and lower lashes and blend this in so it gives a hint of definition rather than a harsh line.
  • Step 8: Using a brown-black mascara apply a thin coat to your upper and lower lashes.
  • Step 9: Then finally, using a chocolate or plum shade of lipstick (muted shades are best), apply a matte lip colour to your lips using a lip brush for better coverage and staying power.

How To Create The Makeup of Miss Holly Golightly For A Romantic Valentine Look

Audrey Hepburn

It's almost time for the most romantic evening of the year, and whether you will be spending it with a new love or having a romantic evening at home, it's one evening of the year where you can go whole-heartedly for the romantic, girlie look. The Spring Season 2010 will be full of floral and pastel outfits with frills and girlie accessories, and these styles are perfectly matched with the romantic and classical Hollywood makeup techniques used on starlets, such as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. The makeup artist on Breakfast at Tiffany's was actually a guy named Wally Westmore, who was born in England, and who was one of six brothers who all became makeup artists. In his memory, here are some of the great Hollywood makeup tips which he worked to perfection on Miss Hepburn in that movie.

  • Always have a perfect canvas to work on - use either a good quality foundation or a primer which will ensure a smooth, flawless and dewy coverage. Audrey never sported a tanned look in BAT, so use a foundation which is the lightest shade which suits you and which looks natural. Apply a concealer if you need one under the eyes and on any slight imperfections using either a concealer in the same shade as your foundation or my preferred product which is Touche Eclat by Yves Saint Laurent, which brightens as well as conceals.
  • Using a large powder brush, lightly apply a dusting of loose, translucent face powder, which looks much more natural than set powder.
  • Next you need to work on your eyebrows. Depending on what your natural brows are like you may have to work harder to achieve a look like Audrey's. If you actually study her brows, they are pretty heavy by today's standards, but working with an eyebrow pencil in a shade close to your own natural colour you need to draw in an almost straight outline on the underneath of your brow and create an arch along the top of the brow. If you are naturally fair or have very slight eyebrows try to work in as much definition as your feel comfortable with.
  • We are intending this look for a romantic evening, so next to the eyeshadow. This is a relatively simple application and we recommend a dark brown shadow which is applied relatively deeply all over the eyelid and which is then blended out beyond the crease line, gradually fading it out.
  • Audrey had beautiful, rosy girlie cheeks. Using a large blusher brush, apply a rose pink blusher to the apples of your cheeks. Limit the application to a subtle application of colour. Next apply a highlighter along your cheekbones to give an almost ethereal glow.
  • Audrey's lips sported very neatly applied matte lipstick. No brash or bright colours should be involved, look for colours such as a light cherry red, and apply this with a lip brush, carefully outlining your lips, then filling in the centre and finally blotting the colour.
  • Audrey's eyelashes where black and beautifully curled. Use a good quality mascara for curling lashes, and make sure that you apply lots to the outer corner lashes of your eyes to get the full fluttering effect.

How To Keep Those Gorgeous Eyes White and Bright

Bette Davis Eyes

It's a fact - no matter how much time and money we spend on eye make up and mascara, if our eyes are dull and bloodshot, all that effort is wasted. Eyes can become dull for many reasons with a hectic lifestyle. Many of us stare at a PC all day long and this can lead to red and dry eyes. Even sun and wind can make our eyes sore, and we all know what effect too much of a good thing the night before has on our eyes the next morning. Yep, the puffy eyelids and pink eyed effect is not to attractive in the early morning light the next day. And it's not just the girls that suffer - I've know fellas ask to borrow some eyedrops to try and improve the look of their hung-over eyeballs the next day.

Some Natural Remedies To Brighten Your Peepers..

  • Eat a small helping of mixed berries at breakfast, such as blueberries, black and redcurrants and raspberries - the vitamins and antioxidants in these berries will circulate within your system and brighten your eyes in about 20 minutes.
  • Cucumbers over your eyes is really a myth - there is not a lot in them that really helps your eyes. However, because they are roughly 90% water and you have usually taken the slices out of the fridge, the cooling and hydrating effect of slices of cucumbers placed over your eyes can help reduce puffiness, the same as a pair of used teabags will.

Should You Use Eye Drops Which Brighten Your Eyes?

  • Some eye brightening eye drops will really help with red or irritated eyes. Some are moisturising as well, so they really help people with dry eyes caused by lack of blinking while working at their PC. Always read the label though and speak to your pharmacist before using them.  I have used them very successfully for many years, before a night out when feeling tired, or in the morning if needed.

How To Disguise Early Morning Shadows Around Your Eyes

  • The old favourite, Touche Eclat is brilliant for this. When you have applied your regular eye makeup, just run the Touche Eclat brush against the outer corners of your eyes and along the rim of your eye socket underneath and blend gently with the brush. All signs of crows feet or shadows are minimised immediately.

Some Great Tips On How To Keep Your Eyes Looking Youthful and Beautiful

It is now said that 30 is the new 20 and 40 is the new 30 and so on, which I totally agree with, as generally all our lifestyles have changed and we are still partying way into our 50s! However, although we might feel like that on the inside our bodies on the outside don't always agree with this new phenomenon. It's pretty easy to hide those greys and get a new hairdo, but when it comes to eyes and skin it's a bit more difficult unless you are going to opt for Botox or surgery. However, here are some makeup and beauty tips which can take 10 years off your eyes and have them looking their young and beautiful best.

Preparation For Eye-Makeup

  • Cleanse your eye area thoroughly using an eye makeup remover. Celebrity Beauty Tip: Use Johnson's Baby Wipes to remove eye-makeup and refresh your face.
  • Apply your eye cream or invest in a lifting cream such as Avon Anew Clinical Eye Lift which retails at around £15.50. This helps to lift skin, as well as treating any puffiness and dark shadows.

Foundation And Concealer

  • Apply foundation to your face and blend it in around your eye area. There are some great foundations available for mature skins such as Clinique Repairwear Anti Ageing Makeup SPF15 and Loreal Age Perfect Skin Supporting & Hydrating Makeup.
  • Apply any concealer that is required - see the entry on "How To Get Rid Of Dark Circles Under The Eyes" if you have problems with shadows. I've mentioned in that entry about using a concealer such as YSL Touche Eclat which brightens and disguises imperfections as well as covering them.

Powder

  • Where fine lines are involved, it's sometimes better not to powder, but if you feel that you need this "setting" agent then look for a powder with light reflecting qualities, such as Clinique Gentle Light Powder which uses it's light reflecting qualities to diffuse light away from lines and imperfections. Brush this over your eye-lids as a base for your eyeshadow.

Eyeshadow And Eyeliner

  • Now apply your eyeshadow and use matte or semi-matte muted shades and blend in carefully over the lids. Apply eyeliner to the top and bottom eyelids just outside the lash line and smudge to create a smokey look. Using a darker eyeliner gives definition back to the eye, and dark brown is probably more flattering than black for a daytime look.

The above are great makeup tips, but I also think that following these health and beauty tips below are so important and also easy:

  • Drink lots of water to keep your eyes and skin hydrated and fresh.
  • Get as much sleep as you can to avoid tiredness lines.
  • Don't frown - as my mum always told me - the expression might "stick" - now I get what she meant - lines!
  • Don't pull your skin unnecessarily when cleansing, washing etc.
  • Eat a good diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables.
  • Don't smoke - smokers are much more likely to get lined faces.

Ageing happens to everyone, but it doesn't always have to happen soon, and we can do lots of things to keep it at bay!

If you have any great anti-ageing tips let's hear them here.

What Causes Enlarged Pores and How To Improve Their Appearance

Many of us have enlarged pores mostly around the t-zone area, ie the nose, chin and forehead. These are sometimes inherited and unfortunately we cannot control this or they can result from poor skincare - which we can do something about. There are ways to improve their appearance which are:

  • Exfoliate regularly using a good quality facial scrub, such as Aapri Exfoliating Facial Scrub Cream, which lifts and removes dead skin cells and impurities which can block the pores.
  • Make up a face mask at home using the whites from two eggs whisked together with a teaspoon of lemon juice. As the mask dries the egg whites draw away impurities from the skin and the lemon juice is a natural fruit acid which encourages the release of dead cells from the skin's surface.
  • Use a good toner which tightens up the skin's pores after cleansing, such as Burt's Bees Rosewater & Glycerin Toner, which will leave skin feeling refreshed and will close up the pores so that they are less likely to become blocked.
  • Use a moisturiser which is noncomedogenic, ie one that will not block up the pores such as Korres Pomegranate Balancing Moisturiser for Oily and Combination Skin. Using a moisturiser specifically for oily skin such as this one means your pores are more likely to remain clear.

How To Disguise The Appearance Of Large Pores

  • Heavy foundations are more likely to exacerbate the problem of large pores, so use one specifically designed for oilier skins such as Dermalogica Treatment Foundation and apply a light layer.
  • Apply makeup in a downwards motion around areas where pores are enlarged, as this guides makeup away from them rather than forcing makeup into the pores which creates further problems.
  • Use a oil control face powder such as Corn Silk Loose Face Powder which is specially designed to keep shiny skin under control with minimum effort.
