Bring Some Glamour To Your Eyelids By Wearing This Season's Favourite - Silver Eyeshadow

Kim Kardashian wearing silver eyeshadow

It was seen all over the Autumn 2010 fashion shows - silver eyeshadow was awash on the catwalks. It is clearly going to be one of the hottest shades to wear this autumn. Clearly following this trend are celebrities flaunting the shimmering shade, such as January Jones, Kim Kardashian, Heidi Klum and J.Lo. It is a flirty, fun colour with a bit of sparkle, and it can be mixed with other colours as well for a fabulous look. With some clever hints and tips on how to wear silver eyeshadow you can have both a sultry, shimmering look for the evenings and a lighter, more fun look for the daytime.

Tips On How To Wear Silver Eyeshadow

  • Silver eyeshadow can be worn as a base shadow. Apply it from the lash line up towards the brow, and apply a different colour over the top of the silver shadow, using it as a primer. This adds a shimmer to your favourite colour, whilst also adding depth to your eyes.
  • For a super dramatic look on a special night out, apply silver eyeshadow all over your top lid from the inner corner to the crease of your eyelid and out towards the outer corner of your eye. Then using a small eyeshadow brush apply silver shadow along your lower lid. Using a smokier shade, apply this second colour along your crease line and blend in the outer corner of your eyelid. Using a black or charcoal liner, line both the top and bottom lids and apply lots and lots of black mascara for a dramatic look which will add great depth to your eyes.
  • For a Goth look - with a difference - use a matte silver eyeshadow, and blend this from your lash line up to your brow. Then apply from the lashline to the eyelid crease a charcoal eyeshadow and blend the charcoal with the silver shadow into a dark shimmering grey just above your crease line. This look is pretty intense - you need to dress in a suitably dramatic outfit!
  • Blend a small amount of silver eyeshadow over your upper lid and then apply a thin line of the same colour along your lower eyelid. This will brighten up your eyes in the daytime, along with a slick of black mascara.
  • Different coloured eyes suit different shades of silver eyeshadow. Wear bright silver or sparkly silver shadow with blue eyes to make them sparkle. With brown, hazel or green eyes, silver eyeshadow should be worn in combination with another colour, whichever is your favourite.

What Are The Top Tips For Perfect Skin - Read On To Find Out

Andie MacDowell with glowing skin

How can it be that some women as they age keep their skin in perfect condition? Yes, it is true, that like Andie MacDowell, when you hit the fifties you are going to have laugh lines around your eyes, unless you have a friendly plastic surgeon. There is nothing wrong with laugh lines - but look at Andie's face - her skin is glowing! After some investigation, we have come up with the seven heavenly habits that are easy to follow and which will give you best chance ever to keep your skin in tip-top condition through the decades - so here they are:

Tip Number1 - Exercise

Exercising or working out three times a week not only benefits you on the inside - it will also increase blood flow to your skin, carrying with it oxygen and nutrients - a powerful cocktail to keep your skin young and dewy.

Tip Number 2 - Keep Your Face Clean

Washing away the makeup and dirt the day has brought with it is a must before bedtime. Your skin rejuvenates itself at night when you are asleep and it can do this much more efficiently when it is clean.

Tip Number 3 - Tone Your Face

Toner evens out the PH balance of your skin and also leaves it squeaky clean after washing, meaning pores will be unclogged and able to function properly.

Tip Number 4 - Always Use An SPF Or Keep Out Of The Sun

Cover yourself up in the sun with sunhats and long sleeves, or use a good sunblock. If you are going to spend all day outdoors make sure you re-apply sunblock every couple of hours. UVA rays are the main cause of aging - if you want a tan there are some amazing fakes out there which won't leave you with skin like old leather in a few years time.

Tip Number 5 - Eat Your Veggies

It's not just all about eating your veggies - but keep a healthy and balanced diet. Try to avoid processed foods, white sugar and flour and saturated fats. Eat lots of fruit, vegetables, lean protein, nuts and seeds.

Tip Number 6 - Drink Lots .... Of Water

It hardly needs to be mentioned these days, everyone is so aware of the importance of drinking enough water. Hydrating your skin from the inside is very important, but remember that green and herbal teas, fruit and vegetables can count towards your water intake.

Tip Number 7 - Moisturise Regularly

Find good face and body moisturisers that suit you. It can be as simple as baby oil after the shower, or alternatively you may want to invest in a top of the range, all singing and dancing moisturiser with more ingredients than can be fitted on the label, but the important thing is to use them regularly morning and night every day and you will see the benefit.

Jennifer Aniston Shows How To Wear The New Trend in Tweed For This Season

Jennifer Aniston in Dolce & Gabbana tweed dress in NYC

The word "tweed" has always brought to mind images of a well turned out country gentleman roaming the grounds of his manor house (think Guy Ritchie), but it seems things are ready to change in the world of tweed. This beautiful woven cloth is adorning the bodies of celebrities around the globe including Madonna herself, Vivienne Westwood and Gwyneth Paltrow who are great fans of Harris Tweed - the original weavers. The Harris Tweed industry started in 1846 when Lady Dunmore, widow of the late Earl of Dunmore had the Murray tartan pattern copied in tweed by the Harris weavers. She became a great lover of the woven cloth and started marketing it to all her friends.

If proof is needed of the popularity of this fabric, Jennifer is pictured here wearing a Dolce & Gabbana tweed dress which has been tailored into a formfitting number, with a high hemline and fringed edges. Victoria Beckham has also added a fifties style, speckled tweed dress to her collection this season, which is available at net-a-porter.com.

Girls - How To Wear Tweed The Right Way

  • Don't go for an all over tweed suit - sorry but this would be very aging. A tweed jacket looks fantastic mixed with denim jeans or a girly, floaty skirt - think of an eclectic mix of fabrics and colours and you will look new, fresh and interesting rather than matronly.
  • Pick out a colour from your tweed garment (the beauty of tweed is in the mix of colours), and then accessorise to match this colour with a pendant, scarves or bag.
  • If you are wearing tweed as a jacket, mix its woven, rough texture, with a silk or satin top underneath, and a pair of dark jeans and high-heeled boots, to give you a more edgy look.
  • Lighten up the look of a tweed jacket, by wearing it with a neutral, hooded top underneath, with casual trousers and bag.
  • Look for girlie coloured tweed jackets in pinks (as worn by SJP), baby blues and beiges - these look great with shorts or little skirts, whilst black and grey tweed jackets look fantastic with fitted jeans or leather pants.

How Your Man Can Get Into Tweed This Season

It has been rumoured that Thomas Pink have contracted with Harris Tweed to produce them a line of sports jackets for their Autumn/Winter 2010 season - so introduce your man to it gently with the following tips:

  • Choose a jacket that has one of your man's favourite colours in the weave, and match this with a tie which is a slightly darker shade of the same colour. Keep shirts plain or with a light stripe.
  • If he wears a dark suit to work, think about investing in a well tailored heavy tweed coat to keep out the winter chill and which looks far more interesting than a plain woollen coat.
  • Depending on his age, your man may be able to pull off wearing a full tweed suit, but the cut will need to be modern, and he will need to be able to wear fitted suits - you get where I am coming from.
